Drum Circle is a very prosaic explanation of what Arts in Motion defines as 'the circle of magic'! Circle drumming involves a group of people informally sitting around a heap of unusual & varied musical instruments of South American origin, with one or more facilitators, who gently lead the group to create a basic beat. Picked up rather falteringly & clumsily at first & with jubilation & abandon later, individual expression, interpersonal interaction & collective energy are beaten into an unrelenting, pulsating rhythm which culminates into a crazy crescendo, a potent recipe for intoxication aimed straight for the gut, in an experience reminiscent of a yogi’s sudarshan kriya & pranayam all at once, to become a catharsis, a purification of the very soul.
